In fact, Rice Lake is one of the most productive pan fish lakes in North America! In the spring and fall, Highland View Resort serves as a home base for many anglers on Rice Lake fishing excursions, including the annual Rice Lake Spring Fishing Festival, which runs from mid-May to mid-June. We're proud sponsors of the Festival and we're in the perfect location for competitors and their families.

We'll even help you book tee off times. Spring is also the perfect opportunity to pump up the bicycle tires and ease into cycling form when the temperature is still a little cooler and the roads are less crowded.
Peterborough hosts several team sport tournaments during the spring, including soccer and lacrosse events. Sports teams love our facility because it gives the kids room to run and let off steam, and lets parents relax. Many sport fields are no more than 15 minutes away. During the summer there are several hockey schools in Peterborough. We are approximately 15 minutes away from the arenas which makes our location a perfect place to book.
We're on the waterfowl migration route, so birds of all description are returning and passing through. All you need is a pair of binoculars and a keen eye to spot that osprey or one of the elusive bald eagles that are returning to the lake. (If you forget your binoculars, don't worry, you can borrow ours!) Enjoy a canoe or kayak trip through the marshes, or take one of the motor boats out to view the many drumlin islands that dot the lake.
Just relax, have a snooze under a tree, read a book, or watch the grass grow. We can loan you movies and books and a “do not disturb” sign.
